Join us at the 2025 Bristol Bus Rally: Celebrating Bristol’s proud transport heritage
On Sunday 27th July, the sound of vintage engines and the sight of gleaming old buses brought Bristol to life for the 2025 Bristol Bus Rally. From Bristol's iconic Lodekkas to vintage buses from across the southwest, the rally was a celebration of one of the city's most loved icons: Bristol buses.
Watch our documentary now:
Organised by the Bristol Vintage Bus Group, the annual rally draws transport enthusiasts, families, photographers, and curious visitors from near and far. This year’s event was bigger than ever, with dozens of preserved buses and coaches parked proudly in Brislingo Park and Ride – with some of them open for passengers to climb aboard and take a nostalgic ride.
Some of the most admired vehicles on display were the Bristol Lodekka, famous for its low height and locally-built engineering, and the elegant Bristol RE. Visitors also enjoyed free vintage bus rides to Temple Meads train station or to Keynsham, offering a unique way to explore Bristol's landmarks while soaking up a bit of history.
In addition to the buses themselves, the rally featured stalls selling bus memorabilia, books, and historic timetables – a paradise for transport fans of all ages. For many, it was a chance to reminisce about childhood journeys, former careers, or the days when Bristol’s streets were filled with the rattle and hum of these classic machines.
We were there to capture the atmosphere on film. Whether you missed the rally or want to relive the day, you can watch our short film, made by local filmmaker Nicola Explores
The Bristol Bus Rally is a wonderful reminder of our city’s engineering heritage and a testament to the passion of preservation groups and volunteers. It’s also a great family day out, full of colour, character, and community spirit.
