Short Film: Bristol Air Raid Shelter Walking Tour

Step back in time to Bristol's long lost air raid shelter. Hidden beneath the city's streets for decades, you can now explore the shelter on the St Nicholas Market & Air Raid Shelter Walking Tour.

This short film was made during a commemorative event for D-Day, marking the 80th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II.

The event was organised by Duncan Mckellar, who rediscovered one of Bristol’s public Air Raid Shelters, under the Corn Exchange. Duncan runs weekly tours of the shelter.

It's the perfect day out for any Bristolian with a connection to the Bristol Blitz or anyone who is interested in the city or World War II history.

If you have a connection to the Corn Exchange or St Nicholas Market, why not check out our art prints inspired by the building and its stories...
